5 Habits for a More Productive Morning Routine

I know you wake up groggy, sleepy, and ready to crawl back into bed and wake up Friday afternoon. Trust me, I have been there. It's rough, especially when your bed's warm and your floors cold and you do not want to wake up and start the day. Here's a few of my tips that I seriously live by... I can't even explain to you how much these have changed my life.

Start your day during a light period of sleep.

  • Waking up during your lightest period of sleep will definitely start your day off better. I recommend the app Sleep Cycle, which is free on all app stores. It tracks your sleep patterns and sets your alarm for a time where you'll be in a light period of sleep, rather than a heavy one.

Cleanse your social media apps of negativity.

  • Mute people on your Instagram feed who make you feel badly about yourself.

  • Stop following people with unrealistic body types.

  • Stop following people who resemble the beauty standard.

  • Follow people who encourage you to drink water, eat healthy foods, stay active.

*There is no shame in blocking people who make you feel badly about yourself. If they aren't contributing to your life positively, then they're not somebody you need to wake up to every morning.*


Water, Water, Water, Water, WATER!

  • Dietitians and nutritionists recommend drinking a gallon of water a day! I know it sounds like a lot, but trust me, after a few weeks, your body craves water.

  • Water is so good for you, it's the perfect way to wake yourself up and thank your body.

  • Getting rid of toxic people cleanses your mind, getting rid of toxins cleanses your body.

  • DRINK WATER

Be Prepared For a Stress Free Morning

The only way to de-stress your mornings, is to wake up with a plan. Whether you need to write ten lists of everything you have to do that day, or just set your outfit out for the next day, you need to make preparations.

  • Google Keep App! The google keep notes app is AMAZING!! I use it every. single. day. What I love about the app is you can use it from any device, iPad, phone, computer, it doesn't matter. And there's tons of organizational elements that make the app so beneficial for organizing and planning your life, here's a list:

  • Checkboxes, for list making

  • Set reminders

  • link it to your other notes or calendar apps

  • color coding!

  • You can add other people onto your notes, and they can make that note their own, their editing won't affect your perfectly color coded notes

  • You can send an amazon product straight to Google Keep to save it for later...(this feature is AMAZING)

  • There's light and dark mode which are both adorable.

  • You can add it to your home screen so your notes are easily accessible!

Have a Planned Breakfast Ready to Go

The night before, have it set in your mind, the breakfast you're going to make. Make sure you have the ingredients, you won't be hungry by ten o'clock, and that you'll be satisfied.

OR... have the same thing every morning;) if that's what works for you!


Okay, bonus... make your bed. Just do it. I know what you're thinking, "it's too much work" just do it. I swear it's helpful, then you have no excuse to crawl back into bed and wake up 10 minutes before you're supposed to be out the door. Sorry not sorry...
